When I looked at the poll when I started this, Spoilerific and Cute were tied (cute is winning now so )  So you get something that is two in one

This is a scene that happens much later in the story. Calaen and Rysta are in his kingdom, Calaen has been made King because his father has died. He's been very busy trying to get the kingdom in order and Rysta has been trying to keep herself busy and giving him A LOT of space due to his change in status

She goes out to the stables and finds one of the grooms abusing this massive black horse. She gives him hell for it and eventually  lays down a bet with the man that she can tame the beast, called "Black Menace".

Using a combination of magic and horsemanship, Rysta gets the massive beast saddled and manages to ride him. Her skirts are destroyed because she cut them off in order to ride properly. She's very rough on clothing

King Calaen has come down to the stables to investigate reports of horses that should be destroyed due to bad temper. He witnesses the whole thing and when she dismounts he tells her that the horse she just rode was up for destruction. He not only "pardons" the horse, but gives it to her as a gift. Much to his delight, he gets an enthusiastic hug from Rysta who has forgotten for the moment that she's dealing with a King.
